The Board of Directors determines whether or not the Co-op pays a dividend each year based on profitability and the need to retain capital to ensure the Co-op’s future success. Based on profitable sales in 2021, the Board of Directors is distributing a portion of those profits as a patronage dividend.

October is Co-op Month! Celebrated by cooperatives nationwide during the month of October, National Co-op Month is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of a trusted, proven way to do business and build resilient, inclusive communities.

It seems like we’ve been talking about expansion for a very long time, and from a distance it may seem like not much is happening. Actually, the Board has been working diligently to move this process along.

Since we started the Positive Change program in January of 2019, we’ve donated a total of $89,568.24 to two dozen local nonprofit organizations and three local fire relief funds.

In 2017, we created the Medford Food Co-op Cooperative Community Fund (MCCF) as a permanent endowment within the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation.

So far, we’ve learned that the original founders of MFC committed resources too soon but were responsible for instituting the groundwork and foundation for their successors.

When we left off, the foundation and groundwork had been laid for Medford Food Co-op, known then as Medford Market Cooperative.

Last week we transitioned September’s Positive Change program to provide aid to community members impacted by the fires throughout the valley.

Supporting businesses owned by our friends and neighbors helps keep dollars circulating in our local economy instead of sending profits out of state.
