Rogue Farm Corps

Young farmer in a field of kale.

Round up in September to help train the next generation of farmers and ranchers in sustainable agriculture! Rogue Farm Corps (RFC) trains and equips the next generation of farmers and ranchers through hands-on educational programs and the preservation of farmland. RFC envisions a world in which land is deeply cared for, power is equitably shared, and farms, ranches, and the people who work them flourish.

Rogue Farm Corps is a state-wide organization based in Oregon’s agricultural communities. Their farmer training programs operate in three chapter locations across the state: the Rogue Valley, Central Oregon, and Portland Metro – where their host farms and teaching farm partners are located. RFC's Changing Hands program helps beginning farmers across the state with land access and business development support, and the Farm Launch program provides participants with the tools they need to successfully propel their farm business.

Positive Change funds will be used to support RFC's various training programs, including a farmer-focused anti-racism education project called the Equity Literacy Project coordinated in collaboration with RFC's partners at the Oregon State University (OSU) Small Farms Program, Ecotrust, and Friends of Family Farmers. Rogue Farm Corps approaches all of their work through an equity lens, and they strive to make their programming inclusive of and welcoming to communities who have historically been excluded from farm ownership in Oregon, including people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, low-income individuals, and immigrants. They will continue to use their organizational power to be an agent of positive change because they know that their mission and vision cannot be realized until we dismantle white supremacy, respect the rights of workers, and reckon with the legacy of land dispossession and systemic racism in agriculture.
