Round up this September to support of local farm workers and Latino immigrants! Unete serves the hands and families that produce food in our valley by providing essential staples.
NOWIA Unete, Center for Farm Worker Advocacy which began in 1996, is a movement of farm workers and immigrants that strives to empower and enrich the lives of both groups through education, cultural presentations, advocacy, representation in issues that affect their lives and organizing to defend immigrant rights.
Unete offers a variety of services to the Latino immigrant and farm worker communities in the Rogue valley including classes, advocacy services, food pantry, OHP and Oregon Marketplace application assistance and health navigation services, support for workers in the illegal marijuana industry, disaster preparedness workshops, support for Spanish speaking families with children with special needs, and rental assistance. They also contract with other agencies to do focus groups, surveys, etc in the Latino/a/x community.
Positive Change funds will be used to purchase pantry supplies for local farm worker and immigrant families. Popular staples include rice, beans, corn flour, and oatmeal.
