Cooperative Community Fund

impact

In 2017, we created the Medford Food Co-op Cooperative Community Fund (MCCF) as a permanent endowment within the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation. Contributions to our fund by our Co-op, our co-op suppliers, and owners grow the fund. As the fund earns interest annually, the Co-op donates the earned interest to local non-profits. Each year, our Board of Directors selects one Positive Change recipient to receive an additional grant from the Cooperative Community Fund. Our first donation from the Cooperative Community Fund was made in 2020.

Rogue Farm Corps

Rogue Farm Corps trains and equips the next generation of farmers and ranchers through hands-on educational programs and the preservation of farmland. Rogue Farm Corps envisions a world in which land is deeply cared for, power is equitably shared, and farms, ranches, and the people who work them flourish. Rogue Farm Corps embraces the values of stewardship, mentorship, collaboration, and systemic change: protecting farmland and promoting agricultural practices that restore water, soil and biodiversity; sharing knowledge and experience across generations through hands-on, experiential education and learning; joining forces with partners and allies to advance shared goals and act together for a livable future; and addressing disparities in the food system to achieve equitable access to education, training, land, and capital, and building diverse, adaptable communities able to thrive in a changing climate.

Unete Immigrant Fire Relief Fund

Pollinator Project Rogue Valley is a volunteer-led organization providing resources and education about the importance of all pollinators, beyond honey bees, for our food systems and our ecosystems, and the direct harm caused by pesticides. They inspire and empower people through education, advocacy, and action, bringing communities together to create safe pollinator habitats. They educate homeowners, gardeners, businesses, and community leaders about the importance of growing a landscape with native plants and using practices that benefit all pollinators – native bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and more.

NOWIA Unete, Center for Farm Worker Advocacy which began in 1996, is a movement of farm workers and immigrants that strives to empower and enrich the lives of both groups through education, cultural presentations, advocacy, representation in issues that affect their lives and organizing to defend immigrant rights. The fire relief fund will distribute money directly to families for basic needs like food, gas and other essentials in response to the complications surrounding the recent fires in Jackson County. Unete is also assisting families with navigating community resources.
