Whether you’re looking for a meatless sausage alternative or just want to taste the abundance of flavors produced here in the Rogue Valley, you’ve got to try Cheesorizo®! Made locally by WellMont Farms in Central Point, Cheesorizo is a handmade fresh cow milk cheese seasoned with herbs and spices that cooks and tastes like sausage. This crumbly, non-melting cheese adds savory flavor and texture to your favorite dishes and can be sautéed, fried, or baked.
Cheesorizo is available in three different flavor profiles which makes it a versatile kitchen staple. The Fiesta flavor is seasoned with Mexican spices like chili powder and smoked paprika and makes a hearty vegetarian alternative to chorizo. Make tantalizing tacos, bold burritos, or heavenly huevos with the spicy Fiesta flavor. If you dream of sweet Italian sausages, then try the Italian flavor with classic herbs like oregano, basil, and garlic. Invigorate your pizza toppings or try the Italian Cheesorizo “Meat” Ball recipe with spaghetti and marinara. Last but certainly not least, is the subtly spicy Sage Cheesorizo. From breakfast to dinner, the Sage flavor makes some mean Quinoa Breakfast Patties, and enhances Savory Cornbread and Potatoes au Gratin.
Regardless of which flavor you choose, you can build a bowl to make a quick meal. Start with some rice, quinoa, or your favorite whole grain and then add stir-fried or sautéed veggies along with the Cheesorizo. Below is a bowl made with local Cowhorn asparagus, purple cauliflower, red pepper, and Sage Cheesorizo.
